| The Evelo family is
well into the 15th official year of its homeschooling journey. I use the
word 'official' because even though our oldest children attended public
school for a few years, we had a strong learning environment in our home
from the beginning. We just didn't know about homeschooling, or that we
were already engaged in it while teaching them to read and to do simple
math and science experiments! I continue to believe that all parents are
home educators; some are just involved at deeper levels.
We are well into realizing our goal as parents to encourage our children to be lifelong learners. We have graduated three of our four children into adulthood. One has graduated from college into nursing, while the other two are still engaged in college work. We are staying the course with our youngest child, who is now in the high school years. When my husband and I began our life together 27 years ago, I could never have imagined the joys, sacrifices and enrichment that homeschooling has brought to our lives. We will always be grateful for the strength in our personal family relationships that continues even as they leave the nest, thanks to homeschooling. To reach Vivian: |
