Homeschool Month at Dinosaur World, Plant City

  Dinosaur World is celebrating homeschool students by designating the entire month of May as Homeschool Month. In May, all homeschool students and their parents and siblings will receive the park’s group-rate discount of $8 per person. 

Having fun through education is a top priority at Dinosaur World, as is meeting the needs of the hundreds of homeschool students visiting each year. Park officials request that this e-mail or a news release containing this information be presented prior to ticket purchase. Other homeschool documentation is also welcome.

Dinosaur World is an outdoor dinosaur museum with over 150 life-size dinosaurs. The Indoor Prehistoric Museum houses fossil exhibits. At the Fossil Dig, visitors sift through sand in a paleontological setting in search of authentic fossils to take home. The Cave Exhibit shows a short educational movie on dinosaurs and offers a subterranean picnic area. Uncover a life-size skeleton in the Boneyard. Other park exhibits include interactive stations, playgrounds, picnic areas and more. 

Located approximately 20 minutes from Tampa and one hour from Orlando on Interstate 4 off Exit 17, Dinosaur World is a short trip from many locations. BHSF Annual Book Sale, Riverview

  If you plan on selling books, the cost per table will be $6, which is due no later than April 24. Everyone must bring their own tables (6-foot or less). The sale will be held on the outdoor basketball courts, which will be covered in case of rain. There is no charge to anyone just wanting to shop, but everyone will be required to sign a “release from liability” form as per the YMCA. Directions: From I-75 or Route 301, travel south of Brandon to the Gibsonton exit.  Travel east on Gibsonton Drive to Balm Riverview Road and turn left (north) until you round the first curve. Sixth Annual Tampa Bay Homeschool Prom, Tampa

  Come and enjoy a wonderful evening with other homeschoolers in the grand ballroom overlooking Rocky Point Bay. The $60 ticket price includes a buffet dinner featuring oven-roasted sirloin, chicken marsala, shrimp alfredo, scallop pasta, salads, vegetables, desserts and beverages.

A DJ will play current music (clean versions) for dancing, and a professional photographer will be available for those who would like to purchase a prom photo package (payable that evening). 

This will be a formal event. The dress code will be a coat and tie for young men, and formal dresses for young ladies. Tennis shoes, flip-flops, jeans and T-shirts will not be allowed -- no exceptions.

The event is open to grades 9-12 and to those age 15 and older prior to the end of the school year. The registration form and payment must be postmarked no later than April 7.
