FPEA Day at the Capitol
Friday, April 4 • Tallahassee

We in the FPEA take our status as citizens of the United States and residents of the Sunshine State seriously. As such, this second annual Day at the Capitol sponsored by the FPEA is intended to show our governmental representatives that Florida homeschoolers speak with a united voice. These program elements have been formalized so far:

Tour of the Governor’s Mansion
From 10:15-10:45a.m. there will be a free tour of the governor’s mansion, located at 700 N. Adams St. in Tallahassee.

Rally in the Florida State Capitol
The FPEA group will meet on the 22nd floor of the Florida State Capital Building at 11:30a.m. for a rally organized by the FPEA Board of Directors. Lunch will be available on the 22nd floor at noon for $2; the menu will include a sandwich wedge from Publix, chips, a cookie and a beverage. Lunches must be pre-ordered by e-mailing office@fpea.com by March 28.

Featured Speakers
Leaders confirmed to speak at the rally include Gary Weaver, FPEA State Chairman, as well as Brenda Dickinson of the Home Education Foundation.

Afternoon Tours
• Museum of Florida History, 1:30-2:15 p.m. ($1 per person, www.museumoffloridahistory.com)
• Historic Capitol of Florida (Old Capitol Building), 3:30 p.m. (free)
Tours must be scheduled in advance by e-mailing office@fpea.com.

Meet Your Elected Leaders
FPEA member attendees are encouraged to start working now to arrange to meet with their state senators and representatives. Our elected officials need to know that Florida homeschoolers care deeply about issues affecting home education — enough to take the time and effort to travel all the way to the capital to see them in their offices. Even
if you don’t get to meet your legislators directly, there’s still great value in face-to-face time with office staffers, who often bear great influence on what happens in Tallahassee.
