Movie Presentation: Come What
May
This
spring, 40 homeschoolers and a handful of professionals completed their
first movie, Come What May, filmed at Patrick Henry College. George Escobar,
founder of Advent Film Group, brought together the cast and crew from across
16 different states to make their inaugural film.
Come
What May is previewing to packed theaters nationwide and is receiving distribution
offers, including the distributor of Fireproof and Facing the Giants. This
past November, AFG received its first film festival prize — a Redemptive
Storyteller Award at the Redemptive Film Festival at Regent University.
The film will be shown on Thursday and Friday evenings at the Convention.
Through AFG, George, a media veteran and homeschool dad, is working to
overcome the status quo of big-budget, Christianthemed or authored movies
being directed by secular directors.
Come What May
follows the fictional story of Caleb, a transfer to Patrick Henry College,
who must argue a moot court case concerning the issue of abortion. Meanwhile,
his mother, a feminist attorney, argues a similar case before the U.S.
Supreme Court from the opposite side.

FPEA Annual Business Meeting
This meeting is open to all FPEA members. On the agenda:
-
The Chairman, Treasurer and others report on the general condition of the
organization.
-
Directors in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 13 are elected. Members in those districts
may vote for Director. Districts are determined by counties — if you’re
not sure what district you’re in, consult the Almanac or www.fpea.com.
-
Members may ask questions; meet their District Director, Chairman and other
officers; and voice concerns. The Chairman will recognize members who wish
to address agenda topics. Members must keep their remarks to two minutes.
Every FPEA-recognized group is encouraged to send a representative to this
meeting. To vote, as well as for more information about the election process,
use the mail-in ballot attached to the Summer Almanac or email the secretary@fpea.com.
Ballots must be turned in at the meeting if not already mailed.
