Each year at the FPEA Convention we attempt to provide for you a very broad and well-rounded variety of speakers, workshops, vendors and events to participate in. We realize that every family is following THEIR OWN personal homeschool path.
There are different approaches, methods, theories and reasons to what and why we do what we do as homeschoolers. We are all different – we all have different needs along our homeschooling journey, which makes us all seek out what works for our own individual families.
With that thought in mind, we like to provide you with as much variety and selection as we can. But there are some things at convention each year that are consistent and stay the same – things that you know you can always depend on to be there for you. They are “Old and Reliable” so to speak. Personally, I like that. I like knowing that there are certain things that I, or my family, will enjoy, benefit from and be entertained by each year.
Just for starters a few of those things for our family would be the children and teen programs. My children look forward to this exciting and fun packed time with other kids their ages instead of having to follow mom around the Exhibit Hall all day. I value these programs for the peace of mind I have knowing my children are being edified in a safe and secure location.
Another “can’t miss” for me are the speakers. After years of homeschooling, the motivation, inspiration and energy I get from some of my favorite speakers is priceless. Not to mention some vendor booths that I never grow tired of visiting year after year like – Vision Forum, Beautiful Feet Books and Rainbow Resources, just to name a few (trust me, I could go on and on here).
As much as I love the “regulars” at convention, I also look forward to what’s new each year. For example this year I am really looking forward to the Living History Hunt that we blogged about recently, the 25th Anniversary Celebration, and I’m REALLY excited about the Mobile App that is going to be available to us this year (it’s not quite ready yet, but we will share all about that very soon).
I’m sure that I could go on and on about all the things I love about convention, but what we really want to hear about are the things you love and look forward to! So share a little with us, along with our readers. Leave us a comment about some of the workshops, vendors or programs at convention each year that your family looks forward to, have enjoyed and will always return for more of each year.
We can’t wait to hear from you so we can take some your favorites and possibly add them to our favorites list after this year’s convention.

I look forward to the opening program that you had every year except last year. The best one was a few years ago you had a homeschooling choir. I would love it if on the first night you had someone who brought humor to the table after a long day of traveling to the convention it would be nice to laugh a little.
In the past my kids love getting in the pool at whatever location we had the event but I noticed last year and this year unless we stay at the hotel we would not be able to do that.
My favorite vendors was Home Science Tools and the screen printers that is usually near the back I don’t remember their names. My kids love the T-shirts especially the one that says “Caution Unsocialized Homeschoolers”
Next year, I’d love to see speakers FPEA has feature previously, such as Susan Wise Bauer & Debra Bell. And I’d like to see some more secular workshops and more sessions aimed at homeschooling middle & high schoolers.
I really appreciate how consistently smoothly the convention runs. Anyone who has worked with volunteers knows how hard it is to get everyone to catch the vision. It is wonderful to feel the excitement that everyone has for this event…every year!
This year is gonna be amazing!
