Are you a leader in your homeschool community? If so, have you ever attended the Leaders Forum which takes place the Thursday before convention officially begins? If you have you probably enjoy this kick off to convention as much as we do and know that you don’t want to miss it. If you haven’t, well, let me tell you what you have been missing out on. If you are a leader in your homeschool community, someone who leads a support group, co-op or nontraditional private school, just to name a few, you will want to join us in this wonderful time that is set aside for Leaders just like you.
We have a new format this year, with 20 sessions that will equip local leaders across the state, including how-to workshops, breakout sessions and inspirational speakers. You will hopefully walk away from this special Thursday session feeling refreshed and ready to serve others better than ever.
So please join us !!! You will also enjoy a delicious luncheon while listening to a message from Rick Green, who is also one of the keynote speakers during the main Convention.
The cost for this event is $25 per adult, with Convention registration also required in order to attend. Remember that as a special bonus again this year, adults attending the Leaders Forum gain early access to the exhibit hall on Thursday afternoon!
Secondly, because we want the whole family to enjoy Convention weekend, sign your teen up for the fun filled Teen Program we have planned … “Film Camp”
Crystal Creek Media, creators of the feature-length film Creed of Gold, will offer a two-day film camp specifically designed by Daniel and Kathleen Knudsen to introduce teens (ages 13-19) to the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully enter the film industry. The camp has received glowing endorsements from national homeschool leaders. Film camp is also generating excitement nationwide as homeschooling families plan to attend at local and regional events such as the FPEA Convention.
The cost is $35 for both days. Please note that the teens will be able to sign themselves in and out without a parent, and will be dismissed for an hour for lunch (this could be a perfect time to connect and enjoy lunch with your teen).
For more information about the camp, visit filmcamp.crystalcreekmedia.com.
Don’t forget to check back again next week, “right here”, for additional details on more amazing things we have planned for you and your family during this exciting weekend.
Other details concerning the event continue to be finalized. For updated information, visit www.fpea.com/convention/about.

Hello- I can’t wait for the convention! Will you be listing the discount hotel rates on this website or should we contact the hotel directly? Thanks!
Leader’s Forum is always wonderful! It is well worth coming a day early for the chance to learn and to meet with other leaders! Don’t miss this!
Jennifer,
They’ve always listed a hyperlink on the convention page before. I’m sure that is coming!
Thanks Linda!
I’m looking forward to presenting a workshop at the Leaders Forum on Thursday. The workshop is titled “The IRS and Your Homeschool Group”
It may not be what we want to hear, but it is what leaders *need* to hear!!
Don’t fear, I’m a CPA and I deal with he IRS all the time. I’ll help homeschool leaders know when they need to worry about the IRS (and when they don’t!)
See you all in May 2012!
